From great queens such as Elizabeth I to the ordinary people who step into extraordinary roles, the exercise of power by women has taken many different forms over the centuries, not all of them equally celebrated and recognised.
Marking the centenary year of the first women to receive the vote in Britain, Sarah Churchwell, Helen Castor and Sarah Dunant will discuss the influence of women through the centuries, considering their significant yet often overlooked impact in the forging of the modern world.

Chaired by Anna Whitelock, historian, broadcaster and author of Elizabeth’s Bedfellows
