“One of the year’s finest world fusion projects” – UK Vibe

The award-winning group Classico Latino seamlessly blends the techniques and sounds of classical music with authentic Latin American rhythms and melodies.

Launching their fifth album, Havana Classic, Classico Latino will present beautiful and toe-tapping music from Cuba, blending the rhythms of the island with a bewitching classical sound.

Havana Classic captures the essence of Cuba’s traditional music, reimagined through the unique arrangements and sound of Classico Latino. For their recording, made in the famous EGREM studios in Havana in 2018, Classico Latino collaborated with a number of eminent Cuban musicians, notably the legendary jazz violinist Omar Puente, whose expressive personality and virtuosic improvisations match perfectly the warmth and vitality of Classico Latino.

This project, which combines the authentic soul and tradition of Cuba with the passion and elegance of classical strings, offers an entirely new experience, bringing together two worlds in a sound full of warmth, joy and colour.

During the interval members of Classico Latino will take part in an on-stage conversation with Dr Felipe Hernandez, Director of the Centre for Latin-American Studies.

Food trucks, serving delicious food and cocktails will be on the Sidgwick Site from 4pm until 9pm.

After the evening concert, band members will be available to sign CDs and chat to the audience.
