This year they are delighted to have commissioned a new work by Mark Anthony Turnage entitled ‘Prussian Blue’, written for the same combination of instruments as Schubert’s famous Trout Quintet, which is also on the programme.
Founded over 40 years ago by the great Hungarian violinist Sándor Végh, IMS continues to nurture outstanding chamber music performers under the artistic directorship of cellist Steven Isserlis. Tom Poster, a Cambridge regular, will be joined by Norwegian violinist Arvid Engegård, Armenian cellist Mikayel Hakhnazaryan, Principal Bass from the Berlin Philharmonic, Matthew McDonald, and young string players including recent BBC Young Musician of the Year Laura van der Heijden.
This concert is being presented in association with Kettle’s Yard, and is being generously sponsored by Granite Coast Ltd. http://www.granitecoast.co.uk/
