Feared and revered in equal measure, it is the hardest of all of the climbs in the Tour de France. In 1967 it claimed the life of former World Champion Tom Simpson and it has seen many others almost die in the attempt. Join cycling correspondent for The Times, Jeremy Whittle, as he explores the most daunting and extreme of mountain climbs and the elemental fear it instils in those who seek to conquer it.
