Brahms - Sonata in E minor, op 38
Ustvolskaya - Grand Duo for cello and piano
Beethoven - Sonata in A major, op 69
 
Beethoven’s dazzling A major sonata, Brahms’ soulful E minor sonata are coupled with one of the
most extraordinary works for cello and piano, Ustvolskaya’s Grand Duo - a spiritual and musicial tour
de force. Two master musicians from Berlin re-visit Cambridge and West Road Concert Hall with a
unique programme,
 
Antonis Anissegos studied piano at Thessaloniki State Conservatory with Eleni Xenariou and at
Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt Academy with A. Laszlo, where he also studied composition with G. Orban.
After further composition studies with K.Schwertig in Vienna, K Meyer in Cologne and K Zimmerman
at the Berlin Academy and jazz piano with John Taylor, he was awarded 1st Prize in Berlin’s Neuköllner
Opera competition in 2000 - with a commission for a full length opera, ‘Hundeherz’ based on the
novel by Bulgakov of the same name - and the Berlin Senate’s 2002 Composition Award. His solo-,
chamber-, orchestra- and theatre- music have been performed widely by many ensembles including,
Ensemble Piandaemonium, Ensemble Cornucopia, Ensemble Mosaik, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble
DissonArt, the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, The Colour Orchestra of Athens, the Magdeburg
Philharmonie, Wurttemburg Philharmonie, the Brasov Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra to name a few.
He as performed througout Europe, the Far East and N.America. His recent recordings have included
John Cage’s ‘Time-Length Pieces’ ( Gligg Records 2012, Wergo 2014) and he has appeared in over 40
recordings of contemporary music in recent years.’

Maria Magdalena Wiesmaier was born in Augsburg, Germany and studied cello at the Leopold
Mozart Konservatorium, Augsburg, the Franz Liszt Academy, Weimar and in London with Christopher
Bunting and Raphael Wallfisch. She broadcasts and performs as a soloist and chamber musician both
in Germany and abroad, and accompanies the actor Klaus Maria Brandauer on solo tours, performing
at the Vienna Burgtheater, Konzerthaus Berlin, Alte Oper Frankfurt and numerous festivals.
