Relax! Avoid the rush hour, have a drink and listen to music from these rising stars. Theirs may not be household names but, as prestigious BBC New Generation Artists, they always give performances to remember.

Annelien Van Wauwe clarinet
Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad viola
Pavel Kolesnikov piano

Mozart Trio for clarinet, viola & piano, ‘Kegelstatt’
Brahms Sonata for viola & piano, Op.120 No.1
Schumann ‘Fairy Tales’ for clarinet, viola & piano, Op.132

These young players from Belgium, Norway and Russia have come together specially to form the attractive but rare combination of clarinet, viola and piano. Mozart’s lyrical and charming Kegelstatt trio sits alongside Schumann’s Fairy Tales, four miniatures that range from lively marches to a tender duet. In between, we hear the turbulent passion of Brahms’ viola sonata (again, for the time, a rare choice of solo instrument).
