Subterranean line-up announced

Monday 26 March 2018
Last year one day rock and indie festival, Subterranean was launched at the Corn Exchange. A huge success, with hundreds pouring through the venue doors for the 12-hour music marathon, the Festival returns this September!

Cambridge Live Operations Director and Festival co-curator, Neil Jones said: ‘After the success of the inaugural Subterranean last year, Cambridge Live is really pleased to once again be providing a platform for some of the amazing talent from the rock and indie scene in the region. The music scene is currently in rude health in Cambridge and we look forward to seeing some of the cream of the crop join our headline touring acts for what promises to once again be a fantastic day of music.’

Repeating the same format, the Corn Exchange will be transformed into a four-stage music mecca, bursting with richly creative local talent alongside touring headliners. Three stages will be placed inside the auditorium - the Underworld, Labyrinth and Inferno stages - and as one band finishes on one stage so another starts on the next, giving people the chance to enjoy them all. Outside of the main space there’s also a chance to experience the pared back beauty of The Lair, an exclusively acoustic stage.

The line-up features a number of bands from Cambridge and the surrounding areas, each bringing their own distinctive style and energy to the Festival. Playing alongside these local musicians will be some of the brightest names from the indie and rock scene.

Acts already confirmed are: headliners, Ginger Wildheart lead singer of The Wildhearts and Andy Cairns lead singer of Therapy? – currently supporting The Stranglers on tour; Belfast two-piece band REWS; Austin Gold, local blues rock band; winners of Cambridge Band competition, indie and rock band Flint Moore; Cambridge based classic rock band The Brink who’ve just signed a global record deal; The Rose Affair, indie/alt band from Cambridge; Alter the Sky, Cambridge based hard rock band; Cambridge Rock Band, False Hearts; Spalding based punk band, I Got Spiders; Cambridge based Metal band, One Less God; rising Cambridge rock band, The Hot One Two; Cambs based ‘math-pop/indie’ band, Fes and indie/alternative Among The Citizens; local singer songwriter, Tom Lumley and Bury St Edmunds 3-piece, Garage rock band, Gaffa Tape Sandy also seen on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury.

This year’s Festival has been co-curated by Neil Jones, Operations Director for Cambridge Live, Cambridge 105 presenter/NMG Awards Tim Willett,  Jude Clark (Cambridge Independent) and Tom Simkins from BBC Introducing.

Acoustic acts still to be confirmed.
