In his new book The Fens: Discovering England’s Ancient Depths, personal history interweaves with descriptions of a beautiful, often misunderstood landscape in which the author has lived, farmed, walked, excavated and loved for over 40 years, from its transformative man-made levels and drainage systems, to its medieval buildings and soaring churches.
