For their Lenten concert, New Cambridge Singers presents two contrasting masterpieces.
Swiss composer Frank Martin’s epic Mass for Double Choir is one of the pinnacles of the choral repertoire: soulful, energetic, rhythmic and achingly powerful by turns. Written in the 1920s, it was not released for publication and performance until some forty years later.
Pergolesi’s famous Stabat Mater, a moving and profoundly human picture of a grieving mother composed in the final weeks of Pergolesi’s life, is performed in its version for full choir, accompanied by strings and organ.
All seats unreserved.
