Two workshops based on Tayo Aluko’s poem “Greatness” in a Time of Covid, written in response to the pandemic and placing it in the historical context of Empire, Migration and Politics. It is also a tribute to essential workers, many of them migrants, who have kept society running, but many of whom have succumbed to the virus. Exploring “Greatness” workshops examine and discuss the poem’s themes and will ask participants to research and share historical or contemporary figures and their migration stories, focusing on their impact (positive or negative) made on the society they found or find themselves in. Led by Tayo Aluko who brought his much acclaimed ‘Call Mr. Robeson’ production to Cambridgeshire in 2019.

Suitable for : Adults and young people 16+

Running time: First session: 1 hour; Second session: 1 hour 30
