The music of Bob Chilcott will be familiar to everyone who loves choral singing, from popular Christmas carols to well-loved settings of sacred and secular texts. Bob is also renowned for his ‘come and sing’ events, in which members of the public are invited to join him in the uplifting experience of making music together.

CSM is delighted to be hosting one of these entertaining afternoons in the Tudor-Gothic chapel of Trinity College, which – with its resonant acoustic and beautiful architecture – is a superb setting for choral singing. Bob has chosen a varied mix of pieces, including two of his own compositions – Jesus, Springing and The Lily and the Rose. There will also be music around this year’s Festival themes of JS Bach and women composers: Sarah Quartel’s I will be with you, Cecilia McDowall’s Prayer of St Columba and a new work from John Rutter inspired by Bach, entitled When Music Sounds.

Scores of all works will be provided. At the end there will be an informal run-through that friends and family can attend.
