Bach Chaconne in D minor
Lisney ScordaturA
Bach Chaconne in D minor
Cellist and composer Joy Lisney, has been hailed as ‘the new Jacqueline Du Pre’. This recital of works for solo cello includes Benjamin Britten’s profound and haunting Suite No 3 as well as Bach’s Chaconne in D minor, originally for solo violin, and described by Brahms as containing ‘a whole world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful feelings’. Joy will also play her own atmospheric and lyrical composition ScordaturA.
The recital, 100 years after the end of WW1, will take place in the memorial building at Cambridge’s American Cemetery on Madingley Hill – surely the most poignant of settings.
