Cambridge Music Festival: TRIO MANOUCHE & FRIENDS
Thursday 14 November 2019
Emmanuel United Reformed Church, Cambridge
Tickets are not on sale for this event yet.
Trio Manouche & Friends
Evening to include:
Django Reinhardt classics (Minor Swing, Dark Eyes, Nuages),
well known standards (such as ‘All Of Me’)
and quirky swing covers including Nat King Cole’s ‘Way With Women’.
Plus we may be treated to a couple of originals penned by their leader & vocalist, Simon Harris.
The scene is the Hot Club de France with the unmistakable sounds of Django Reinhardt’s quintet. His beguiling guitar improvisations, the bent notes and swooping lyricism of Stéphane Grappelli’s violin, plus strumming guitars, accordion chords and walking bass. Trio Manouche and Friends recreate this intoxicating atmosphere.
Enjoy a drink as you take in the toe-tapping ‘gypsy swing’ (or Jazz Manouche) of 1930s Paris.
