Do we need a radical approach: quotas to promote women, compensation for unpaid care work and a cull of over-privileged ‘Great White Males’? Or do we need to be more nuanced and less divisive? Perhaps there is plenty of room at the table, and men don’t need to ‘lean out’ to allow women to ‘lean in’. In 2018 we are celebrating the centenary of women’s suffrage, but this debate will address the elephant in the room: what more is needed before we achieve true gender equality?
