The Beach Sessions is proud to present some of the region’s finest songwriters and bands for its first Session of 2022. On December 3rd we are joined by three fab artists flying the flag for Cambridge and beyond!

The British IBM are a Cambridge-based indie rock trio commandeered by singer/songwriter & retro computer enthusiast Aidy, alongside musical comrades David Martin on bass and Scott Wilson on drums. With several albums under their belt they have built up a devoted following. Hear and see more at http://www.thebritishibm.com

The Pony Collaboration are well known to Cambridge gig goers and have supported Jeffrey Lewis, The Wave Pictures and many more. With 3 albums under their belts they have a totally original sound – find out more at https://theponycollaboration.bandcamp.com

Kerry Devine is also a Cambridge based musician which has spent many years releasing records and touring. Kerry is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, writer and producer and has been compared to the likes of Beth Orton and Joni Mitchell. Her debut album which is inspired by the local landscapes, is ‘Away From Mountains,’ which is lyrically honest and musically bewitching. “Devine has turned in an album that roams in a beguiling wilderness rather than the familiar and comfortable urban territory of regular popular music.” Find out more at https://kerrydevinemusic.bandcamp.com

Seats are unreserved. Please be aware tickets usually sell fast and normally sell out well in advance. Doors 7.30pm with music starting at 7.45pm. The Chapel is a short walk from the mainline train station. During the interval there is time to visit the neighbouring pub or enjoy tea and cake in the venue. Please note that the Chapel is an alcohol-free venue.

About the Beach Sessions

For over 7 years Beach Sessions has put on many leading international songwriters and bands including Boo Hewerdine, John Bramwell (I am Kloot), The Slow Show, MG Boulter, Steve Kilbey (The Church), Jordan Mackampa and Blue Rose Code. The session will take place at our favourite venue, Waterbeach Baptist Chapel, which has excellent acoustics and a friendly intimate atmosphere. It is also small enough to experience shows where the artist is only a few feet away.

“In a Victorian chapel lit with gorgeous pink lights and fed with homemade cake, Waterbeach has clearly been holding out on us. From start to finish, the whole thing was exceedingly beautiful – proof that you don’t need to venture into the city to get high quality music.”
