BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Cambridgeshire announce plans for Cambridge weekend

Friday 17 July 2020
With the Cambridge Folk Festival at Home less than two weeks away, there are just a few things you'll need to create your own DIY festival atmosphere...

1. Dig out your deck chair or another Folk Festival-appropriate form of seating
2. Put up bunting to create a festival atmosphere in your garden or (why not?) sitting room
3. Find yourself a souvenir Cambridge tankard and prepare to fill it with the beverage of your choice
4. If you’ll be sitting out, we recommend sun cream as the forecast is for sun.

However you choose to enjoy the Cambridge weekend, you'll have the best soundtrack imaginable with hours of music from BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Cambridgeshire playing Cambridge favourites all weekend long.

BBC Radio 2 have announced their own Virtual Folk Festival, taking place the very same Saturday as Cambridge with Yusuf / Cat Stevens as a headliner. Yusuf / Cat Stevens was due to headline Cambridge this year, so having him on BBC Radio 2 will make a great way to celebrate the Cambridge Folk Festival at Home.

BBC Radio Cambridgeshire have an exciting programme in the works that will last you all weekend, from Thursday afternoon to Sunday night. Presented by Sue Marchant, your weekend soundtrack will be ready-made for you.

Meanwhile, on the Festival's Facebook page you can look forward to videos and performances from your favourite artists plus talks, competitions, workshops, and offers from some of your favourite festival caterers.

Now it's time to start putting up your bunting and think about a drink!
