SING4SANE

12.00 - 12.45 | SUNDAY | STAGE 1

SING4SANE (S4S) is a Big Sing project created and run by singer and songwriter, Melissa James. Aiming to bring together those with an understanding of mental ill health, Melissa invited any willing members of the public to join her in performing her song Live Again at the first S4S Big Sing held at Heathrow’s Caffe Nero store in February 2016.

In summer 2016, SING4SANE moved to RAK Studios after Melissa put a call-out for more participants to gather with her at the famous London studio to lend their voices to a charity single recording of Live Again. In late 2016, the recording was subsequently released with all sale proceeds going to the mental health charity, SANE.

Further S4S Big Sing performances have been held at Waterloo Station and, in October 2017, a Parliamentary Big Sing was organised with support from MPs, music industry officials and senior health representatives who shared the benefits of using music to aid a person’s mental wellbeing.

This summer, SING4SANE comes to the Cambridge Folk Festival. Festival goers can rehearse with Melissa James in a singing workshop before joining this special Big Sing and her onstage performance of Live Again.
